Awards Gala

Chris Gailus

Global TV's weekend news anchor, emceed this gala evening at Vancouver's Fairmont Waterfront Hotel on
November 8th 2006

Press releases

2006 brought us another year of inspiring stories of people doing the right thing in BC's business community.

A crowd of nearly three hundred arrived from Vancouver Island, the lower mainland, and the BC interior to celebrate award finalists and recipients -- leaders in corporate social responsibility.

Table Décor … plant pots were painted by children with developmental disabilities who were asked to paint “what the environment means to them.” Guests were invited to purchase these by donation ...

"Thanks again for organizing the flower pots for the event and including DDA. We ended up with just over $500, and a note from VanCity saying they would send us a cheque ... we will have raised over $700.00.

This money will be used to buy Christmas presents for a number of children from a number of different programs who probably won't receive much else on Christmas."
 -- Chris Hall

Opening the evening EIA Treasurer Don Haliburton introduced the 13 award finalists, with a brief history of EIA.Vancity board member, Reva Dexter then talked briefly on Vancity's socially and environmentally responsible businesses in BC.
