OVERALL LEADERSHIP
This award honours companies that demonstrate outstanding leadership in aligning the core purpose and values of the business with the principles of Corporate Responsibility (CR).
Their level of commitment, risk, and innovation in CR is evidence of their leadership in integrating social and environmental responsibility into their business strategy and operations.
Their CR values balance their responsibilities to investors, employees, customers, partners, communities and the environment as they leader by example with their exemplary social and environmental performance.

Selection Criteria
• Demonstrated overall leadership and innovation in corporate social responsibility: integrating social, environmental and financial performance while balancing the claims of investors, employees, customers, partners, communities and the environment.
• Demonstrated leadership in community relations, corporate governance, employee relations, human rights, environmental impact and customer relations.
• Involvement of people inside and outside the business in corporate social responsibility initiatives. |
COMMUNITY CARE
This award honours businesses that have developed innovative and meaningful community partnerships and programs.
These firms leverage their business activities in order to strengthen local communities, and they engage stakeholders (not-for-profits, employees, suppliers, customers, community organizations, etc.) in order to collectively make a positive impact on society.
They help to empower marginalized groups, and provide support through such initiatives as employment programs, sponsorship, charitable giving, volunteering, and other community programs.

Selection Criteria
• Demonstrated leadership and innovation in the business’s relationship to the communities in which it operates.
• Demonstrated impact on these communities, as shown by charitable giving, volunteering, community relations and engagement, and initiatives related to marginalized groups. • Involvement of people inside and outside the business in these programs. |
ENVIRONMENTAL EXCELLENCE
This award honours businesses that demonstrate leadership and innovation in environmental stewardship through initiatives that minimize the company’s environmental impact and protect our ecosystems and biodiversity.
Their programs and policies address such issues as ecological restoration, green building, product stewardship, pollution prevention, and eco-efficiency.
The company mitigates their environmental impact through cradle-to-cradle product stewardship, and environmentally responsible product or service design and management approaches.
Further, they involve stakeholders (not-for-profits, employees, customers, suppliers, community organizations, etc.) in order to leverage the impact of their initiatives to facilitate broader impact on business and society.

• Demonstrated leadership and innovation in minimizing the business’s impact on the environment and/or caring for the environment.
• Demonstrated impact of the business on the environment(s) in which it operates, as shown by resource use, pollution control, land use, biodiversity, remediation, regulatory compliance and environmental impact of products or services.
• Involvement of people inside and outside the business in environmental stewardship. |
INDIVIDUAL IMPACT
This award honours a leader who champions corporate responsibility (CR) in their business activities, making an outstanding and lasting contribution to CR initiatives and programs within the business.
The individual demonstrates exceptional leadership in inspiring and initiating, planning and driving exemplary CR performance in such areas as corporate governance, stakeholder engagement for sustainability, community care, and environmental excellence.

Selection Criteria
• Employed by a business located in BC that has been in operation in BC for a minimum of three years.
• Demonstrated exceptional leadership in one or more of community relations, corporate governance, employee relations, human rights, environmental impact or customer relations. • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and/or sustain CSR programs in the company. |
